ARTIST'S STORY/BIO

House painter to Artist -- A journey.

Adrian "Ray" Evans Sr. has been painting commercial and residential properties for more than 30 years.  The last 20 years have been as owner of his own business, ADRIAN CUSTOM HOUSE PAINTERS.  He has established a reputation of quality work in upscale communities of greater Orlando, Fl.

As a little boy, Ray effortlessly scrawled cartoon characters on scrap paper and sometimes schoolbooks.  After serving in the Navy during the Korean conflict, he studied business administration at Kentucky Wesleyan College in Owensboro, Ky.

One of his teachers at Kentucky Wesleyan noticed a possible budding artist in Ray and asked him to paint a mural for his business.  That sparked new enthusiasm in Ray.  However, other demands prevailed for most of his adult years.  Then one of his house painting customers was having difficulty finding an artist for some art work in her home. Ray listened to her predicament, created the solution to her problem and the yearning to express himself through art began anew.

Still painting houses as a means of making a living, Ray took night art classes and devoted his spare time to perfecting self-taught techniques.  He attended many art shows and finally found the confidence to participate.  As a reslut, the paintings of ADRIAN R., began to sell and so began his second career.

With the big 7-0 having come and gone and with house painting now taking a back seat, ADRIAN R. paintings have been purchased by many proud owners.

Self taught for the most part, with occasional help from short classes. special workshops and Crealde School of Art in Winter Park, Fl., Adrian R. works to improve his God-given talet by sharpening his skills.  He has now added painting scenes and homes from photographs to his portfolio.

So, it's still art classes - studying, painting and striving to turn a canvas into a pleasure.
