THAT SPECIAL PLACE

Sometimes I take brush in hand, having no idea what I'm going to paint. The urge to paint comes before the idea of what to paint.

That Special Place was one of those paintings.  I allowed my imagination to paint the place I would like to lean back during my remaining years. This does not mean I do not like the mountains, streams and rivers, forest or the plains. It's just that my mind's eye is partial to a secluded inlet cove with an ocean view in a tropical climate.  So, my brush often takes me there on canvas.

I have often been referred to as a mood artist.  The mood I'm in seams to spill out in oils, sometimes sad, more often pleasant, and sometimes making a statement. Quite often I can say things with my brush I am unable to vocalize. 

 

A lot of sunrises show up in my works, as I think of that saying "today is the first day of the rest of my life".....which then leads me to another saying,"It's not what happens to me today, it's what I do with what happens."  Then comes the sunset, if I can paint it, it's been a good day.

 

Hopefully, some of my paintings show that I am truly interested in the environment, peace, survival of mankind and a spiritual approach to life.  Diversity is among us, and hopefully, within us, so as to lead us to acceptance.  If one of my paintings can point out the need for acceptance, bring pleasure, or touch upon a special cord to lighten a burden, or say "yes, I feel that", then my brush has said more than I ever could have.  

 

Doing works that do not particularly make a statement or move anyone in any direction except visual pleasure or mental exercise is also on  my lists  of moods.  Some paintings I do are not titled until they are finished.  They stimulate my awareness and give me the creative ability for my mind to follow up on what my hand has done.
